Gabriel Chartrand, PhD has held a variety of roles in medical research and development since 2010. From 2010 to 2012, they were a PhD student and research assistant at Laboratoire en Imagerie et Orthopédie (LIO - École de Technologie Supérieure), where they developed 3D segmentation methods for CT-Scan and MRI images of the liver and vascular trees, as well as various image processing and compilation tools for 3D imaging projects. From 2012 to 2015, they were a research assistant at Object Research Systems (ORS) Inc., where they implemented 3D segmentation methods for CT-Scan images of the kidney and liver, as well as a prototype to measure the thickness of various structures in a binary image. Since 2015, they have been a Machine Learning Developer at Imagia Cybernetics, where they have developed deep learning models for medical image processing tasks such as segmentation, detection and classification, and implemented NLP neural networks for classification and information extraction tasks from clinical narrative. Most recently, they have been the CTO and R&D Developer at AFX Medical since 2019.
