George "Hank" Griffiths Jr. serves as the AFWERX Chief of Airworthiness and Test since April 2021, where responsibilities include leading flight test planning, execution, and safety processes to advance innovative capabilities for the Department of the Air Force. Prior to this role, George Griffiths spent over 30 years in various leadership positions within the United States Air Force, including Director of Safety at HQ Air Force Materiel Command and Director of Special Programs at the AF Life Cycle Management Center. Notable achievements include leading the F-35 Test Force, overseeing significant military programs, and developing engineering policies to ensure operational safety. Educational qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering from the United States Air Force Academy, along with advanced training in acquisition and military operations.
