Marlen Alfonso, PE, currently serves as an Advisory Board Member at Design Thinking at UC Riverside Extension Professional Studies since April 2023. With extensive experience at AECOM since September 2015, Marlen holds the position of Vice President and Engineering Department Manager for Rail Transit on the US West Coast, overseeing significant projects for LA Metro, SCRRA, City of Inglewood, and SANDAG. Previous roles include Associate Vice President, Rail/Transit Engineering Department Manager, Director of Projects for Transit Rail in Southern California, and Senior Project Manager, all within AECOM. Marlen also led the Linear Infrastructure Department in Spain from June 2002 to June 2015, managing engineering teams for various international infrastructure projects. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Infrastructures and Public Services Management and a Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering, both from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
