Clive Thomson has had a long and successful career in the business world, most recently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Barloworld Limited from 2006 to 2017. Prior to that, they were the CEO of Barloworld Equipment, responsible for the company's Caterpillar equipment business interests in Southern Africa, Iberia, and Russia. Clive has also held the position of Group Finance Director for the Barloworld group.
Clive has a proven track record of unlocking shareholder value and has led a number of successful restructurings and disposals of non-core businesses during their time as CEO of Barloworld Limited. Clive has also been instrumental in the group's transformation efforts, spearheading a landmark R2.3 billion broad-based black economic empowerment transaction in 2008.
Currently, Clive serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director at Advtech.
Clive Thomson attended the University of Cambridge, where they earned a Master of Philosophy in Economics and Politics of Development. Clive also holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Cape Town, where they studied Accounting, Economics, and Business.
