Shannon O'Shea has a diverse work experience in the field of hospice care and music therapy. They started their career as a Music Therapist at Center For Music Therapy Inc, where they served as a Clinical and Administrative Assistant from August 2010 to August 2012. Later, they joined Palomar Health as a Music Therapist from October 2014 to May 2015. Following that, Shannon worked at Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care, where they held the position of Music Therapist from February 2014 to May 2016. During their time there, they managed a large patient case load and led bereavement groups. They also initiated and completed creative legacy projects with patients and caregivers. Shannon then joined Advantage Health Systems in May 2016 and held various roles, including Director of Bereavement and Volunteer Services. In their most recent role as the Director of Supportive Care, they led a team that provided care to hospice patients and developed various programs such as volunteer, bereavement, and music therapy programs. They also initiated virtual support groups and restructured protocols to meet patient needs during the pandemic. Shannon O'Shea has a strong education background in music therapy. Shannon earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music with a minor in Psychology from Texas State University in 2010. Following this, they pursued an M.A. Music Therapy Equivalency at Sam Houston State University from 2012 to 2014. In August 2019, Shannon obtained the certification of Music Therapist - Board Certified (MT-BC) from the Certification Board for Music Therapists.
