Philip Agress

Senior Vice President at AdvaMed

Philip Agress has significant work experience in international government affairs and trade policy. From 2004 to present, they have served as the Senior Vice President of AdvaMed, where they lead efforts to improve the market environment for medical device companies in various key markets. Philip also engages in international government affairs initiatives to secure improvements in regulatory and reimbursement regimes. Additionally, they have led efforts to promote exports by small and medium-sized members of the association. Prior to this, they had a long tenure at the U.S. Department of Commerce, where they held various senior roles, including Deputy Assistant Secretary for Asia and the Pacific, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Japan, and Director of the Office of Japan Trade Policy. In these roles, they oversaw U.S. commercial trade policy initiatives in Asia and led the development and implementation of U.S. trade policy toward Japan.

Philip Agress completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and East Asian Studies at Oberlin College from 1971 to 1975. Philip later pursued a Master's degree in International Relations at The George Washington University from 1978 to 1980.
