Brook Pyhtila has a diverse work experience in scientific research and curation. They started their career as a Graduate Student at Stanford University, where they focused on characterizing yeast karyopherin-nucleoporin interactions. They then worked as a Post-doctoral Scientist at Duke University, where they conducted research on a previously unidentified mRNA partitioning pathway. At Emory University, they served as a Post-doctoral Scientist and initiated a study on children diagnosed with Duarte galactosemia. Currently, Brook is working at Addgene, starting as a Scientific Curator and progressing to roles such as Scientific Curation Manager and Associate Director of Scientific Curation. They are currently the Director of Content at Addgene.
Brook Pyhtila completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology at Vanderbilt University from 1993 to 1997. Brook then went on to earn a PhD in Cell Biology from Stanford University, where they studied from 1997 to 2003.
