Sarah Bieber has a diverse work experience focused on energy access and climate change. Sarah began their career as a Marketing and Communications Specialist at Resource Media from 2001 to 2007. Sarah then worked as an Account Manager at Big Think Studios from 2007 to 2008. In 2009, they joined the United Nations Environment Programme as a Research Assistant in the Post-Conflict and Disaster Management Branch. In 2010, they became a Strategic Communications Manager at EnergyHub. Sarah then transitioned to a role at USAID as a Foreign Service Officer, where they served as the Director for Scaling Off-Grid Energy from 2011 to 2018. Currently, they are working at Acumen as the Director of Energy Partnerships, where they lead philanthropic and investor engagement strategies to grow clean energy enterprises and extend their reach in low-income communities in Africa. Notably, they conceived and launched Acumen's $250M Hardest-to-Reach initiative.
Sarah Bieber obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Anthropology and Ecology & Evolutionary Biology from Tulane University from 1996 to 2000. Later, they pursued a Master of International Affairs in International Environmental Policy from Columbia | SIPA from 2008 to 2010.
