Karen Paterson is a Board Director of the Moxie Foundation, a family foundation promoting social change through innovation in higher education, sustainable global development, climate/environmental initiatives, and medical research. Karen leads the foundation’s work in the development sector with a focus on economic empowerment. She serves on the boards of two NGOs: PCI (Project Concern International), working with communities around the world to enhance health, end hunger, and advance women and girls; and Street Business School, an entrepreneurial training program for the poor that provides start-up tools and coaching through a network of local NGOs throughout Africa.
Karen is the Managing Partner of TBS, LLC, a real estate investment group in San Diego. Previously, she enjoyed a 25-year career in marketing. She was co-founder and CEO of The Sutherland Agency, a global B2B advertising agency in San Diego, and a Director of CPA Graphics & Design, Ltd. in Bournemouth, UK. Earlier she was VP, Consumer and Community Affairs for two Boston-based department store chains, The Jordan Marsh Company and Bradlees Department Stores. Karen received a BA in Economics from Antioch College.
