Jorge Silva is a PhD student at The University of Queensland, focusing on the photonics group within the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science since January 2022. Jorge also serves as a teaching assistant for courses in Photonics and Fundamentals of Electromagnetic Waves and Fields. Prior experience includes tutoring Mathematics and Physics at Ginásios da Educação Da Vinci, completing a graduate engineering trainee position at Bosch with a focus on optical sensing systems for autonomous driving, and working as a research fellow at Universidade do Minho on graphene-based sensors and optical properties of multilayer structures. Additionally, Jorge was a visiting researcher at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, specializing in the simulation of waveguide structures for graphene sensors. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering from The University of Queensland, a Master’s degree in Engineering Physics/Applied Physics, and a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Universidade do Minho.
