Richard Him Lok has extensive work experience in various technology leadership roles. Richard worked at Absa Group as the Head of Technology, Relationship Banking Digital, overseeing the strategic technology enablement of customer and product onboarding across the bank. Prior to that, they were the Head of Customer Onboarding Technology and Head of CTO Sales, responsible for business development and scaling of various services and products in the Chief Technology Office.
Before joining Absa Group, Richard worked at Barclays Africa Group Limited as the Head of Business Bank Technology, where they led technology partner responsibilities and delivered strategic technology and digital change programs. Richard also served as the Head of Emerging Technologies and Innovation at Barclays.
Prior to their roles at Barclays, Richard worked at Absa Group Technology as a Project Director for the Basel 2 AIRB Program. Richard also worked at Datacentrix as the Divisional Director of Solutions, leading the implementation of web-based mission-critical systems and managing various teams.
Richard started their career at Exactmobile, where they were responsible for the creation and establishment of the Exactmobile Portal, the largest mobile entertainment content provider for cellphone networks. Richard also worked at TranXactive as the Director of Mobile, Voice, and Internet Technologies, leading R&D on new technologies and managing various projects.
Before that, Richard worked at Vodacom Service Provider as Manager of the Extended Services Department, Information Services. Richard also worked at SQL Technologies/Winsoft as a Project Leader/Senior Developer and at Rennies Travel and Forex as a Development Project Lead.
Richard Him Lok has an extensive education history. Richard obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of the Witwatersrand from 1987 to 1992. Richard then pursued a Bachelor of Commerce Honors degree in Business Information Systems at the same institution in 1993. Richard later pursued a Master's degree in Software Engineering from 1994 to 1996, followed by a Doctorate in Electrical Engineering specializing in Software Engineering from 1997 to 2006, both at the University of the Witwatersrand.
