Julie Wickenden has a diverse work experience with various positions and responsibilities. Julie currently works at Abcam as the Head of Technology Transfer and had previously served as the Head of Cell Sciences. Prior to Abcam, Julie worked at Horizon Discovery where they held roles such as Manager - Diagnostic R&D and Team Leader. Their achievements at Horizon Discovery include streamlining design and development processes, implementing ISO9001-compliant custom manufacturing, and implementing a global stage gate process for evaluation of R&D activities. Before that, they worked at the University of Cambridge as a Post-doctoral Associate, conducting research on pregnancy-associated breast cancer. Julie also has experience as a Post-doctoral Research Associate at The Babraham Institute, focusing on colon cancer therapeutics. Their educational background includes a PhD from the University of Edinburgh and previous work as a Student at NIBSC, where they specialized in Rat Follicle-Stimulating Hormone production.
Julie Wickenden completed their BSc (Hons) degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Hertfordshire between 1995 and 1999. Julie then pursued their PhD at The University of Edinburgh from 1999 to 2003.
