Sidney Gicheru, MD, is a distinguished ophthalmologist and founder of LaserCare Eye Center, with over two decades of experience in the field. Currently serving as Chair of the Communications Advisory Committee for the American Academy of Ophthalmology and as Leadership Development Program Director and co-founder of the African Ophthalmology Council, Sidney has made significant contributions to leadership training within the ophthalmology community. Additionally, Sidney held a position as Advisory Board Member for the FDA's Dermatologic and Ophthalmic Drugs Advisory Committee and previously served as Past President of the Texas Ophthalmological Association. Sidney's educational background includes a Doctor of Medicine from UT Southwestern Medical Center, an internship in Internal Medicine at Beth Israel Hospital-Harvard Medical School, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Southern Methodist University.
