Abha Mahajan

Community Health Initiatives Intern at AAP

Abha Mahajan has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Abha started their professional journey in 2016 as a Steralization Tech at Smiles Dental Center, where they worked until 2019. In 2017, they also served as a Brand Ambassador and Intern at Simply Smita. In 2018, they joined UIC College of Medicine as an Undergraduate Research Assistant and continued in that role until 2020.

In 2019, Abha Mahajan had the opportunity to work as a Healthy Communities and Government Relations Intern at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Abha then took on the role of an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Illinois at Chicago from January 2020 to May 2020.

From September 2020 to March 2021, they worked as a Medical Scribe at Hartgrove Behavioral Health System. Following that, Abha Mahajan became a Lead Medical Assistant at Basko Dermatology from March 2021 to July 2022.

In July 2022, they joined Hektoen Institute, LLC as an Antimicrobial Stewardship Intern and worked there until December 2022. Abha then worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Illinois Chicago - CDPH from December 2022.

Their most recent work experience is as a Community Health Initiatives Intern at the American Academy of Pediatrics, starting in May 2023. Abha Mahajan brings a well-rounded background with experience in healthcare, research, teaching, and community health initiatives.

Abha Mahajan completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Public Health at the University of Illinois Chicago from 2016 to 2020. Abha then pursued their Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Community Health and Preventive Medicine at the same institution from 2022 to 2024. In addition to their formal education, Abha obtained several certifications, including "Surveillance Systems: Analysis, Dissemination, and Special Systems," "Epidemiology in Public Health Practice Specialization," "Surveillance Systems: The Building Blocks," "Data and Health Indicators in Public Health Practice," and "Essential Epidemiologic Tools for Public Health Practice," from The Johns Hopkins University in 2020. Lastly, Abha also became a member of UNICEF UNITE Clubs in 2019-2020.
