Joe Derham has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. Their most recent role was as a Development Manager at 4R Systems, where they managed undisclosed projects. Prior to that, they worked at ARRIS as a Principal Staff Software Engineer, providing engineering support for CCAD and developing core components for an Adjustable Bit Rate Packager. Before ARRIS, Joe worked at Motorola Mobility (acquired by Arris) as a Principal Staff Software Engineer, where they served as a team lead for software applications in the field of Switched Digital Video (SDV). Additionally, they worked as a Senior Staff Software Engineer, helping develop core components for SDV applications deployments. Before Motorola, Joe worked at Vertasent as a Senior Engineer. Prior to that, they were at Concurrent Computer Corporation, where they held the role of Principal Engineer and later became the Manager of Software Development. At Concurrent Computer Corporation, Joe designed, developed, and supported software for Video-On-Demand systems and created a DLL for interfacing with multiplexing logic and creating fast forward and rewind streams. Their earliest work experience was at Moore Products Co., where they worked as a Software Engineer and supported and added features to a multi-platform communications library, as well as learned and coded NT device driver development.
Joe Derham received their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Purdue University from 1985 to 1989. In addition to their formal education, Joe obtained several certifications from Coursera, including "An Introduction to Interactive Programming in Python" in November 2014, "Web Application Architectures" in September 2014, and "Functional Programming Principles in Scala" in June 2014.
