Travis Kalanick will leave Uber's board of directors at the end of the year. Kalanick was ousted as CEO in 2017 following reports of a reckless and toxic culture at Uber, including multiple accusations of sexual harassment and gender discrimination at the company.
In a statement, Uber's CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said: āVery few entrepreneurs have built something as profound as Travis Kalanick did with Uber. Iām enormously grateful for Travisā vision and tenacity while building Uber, and for his expertise as a board member. Everyone at Uber wishes him all the best.ā
Kalanick has off-loaded more than $2.5 billion worth of stock in recent months ahead of this announcment. He can now focus all his time on his new company, CloudKitchens, which offers shared kitchen spaces for delivery only restaurants.
