T-Mobile Has a New General Counsel and Corporate Secretary

Starting next month on October 11, Mark W. Nelson will join T-Mobile as the US telecom giant’s next EVP and General Counsel.

Starting next month on October 11, Mark W. Nelson will join T-Mobile as the US telecom giant’s next EVP and General Counsel. He replaces Dave Miller, who will retire from the company on April 1, 2022 after 26 years of service.

Nelson will report directly to CEO Mike Sievert and have offices in both Washington D.C. and the company’s corporate headquarters in Bellevue, Washington.

The company also revealed that Broady Hodder has been elected as its new corporate secretary and will report to Nelson. Hodder currently serves as the company’s SVP of Corporate Governance and Strategic Transactions.

Nelson brings deep expertise in regulatory and global antitrust matters as well as in federal and state level civil litigation.

He will be able to hit the ground running from day one as even though he has practiced law for over 25 years at Cleary Gottlieb, he has been counsel to T-Mobile US for the past two decades. Throughout his tenure he has played a core role in T-Mobile’s acquisition of MetroPCS in 2013 and its hotly contested merger with Sprint in 2020.

“Mark has already played a critical role in so many defining moments for the Un-carrier, and we look forward to him continuing to help Team Magenta write our next chapter,” Sievert said in a .

He will have his work cut out for him as he joins shortly after a major cybersecurity revealed the personal information of up to 53 million people across the US. The data breach, revealed in August, has already from regulators in Massachusetts.
