Audi’s Supervisory Board has named Oliver Hoffmann as its new Chief Development Officer. Hoffmann replaces Markus Duesmann, who will still hold multiple positions at the company, effective March 1.

Having been with the Audi for almost fifteen years, Hoffmann is a familiar face within the company. He has held multiple management positions, and in 2018 was named the Head of Technical Development at Audi Sports. From 2019 he became the Head of Technical Development at the Neckarsulm site and Head of Powertrain Development at AUDI AG. Most recently, Hoffmann served as Audi AG’s Chief Operating Officer.

“As a long-time Audi colleague who has dedicated a third of his life to our brand, Oliver Hoffmann is a great choice to take on this management role,” Duesmann said in a . “He stands for true integrity and team spirit. For me, those things are the prerequisite for shaping a new way of working together.”

Hoffmann will be the seventh Audi board member since 2012 to overlook development. The position was held by Wolfgang Dürheimer for a short period of time in 2012. In 2013, Ulrich Hackenberg had taken over the position but was forced to resign as a result of the diesel scandal in 2015. His successor, Stefan Knirsch, resigned for the same reasons. Peter Mertens took over the role in May 2017 but eventually resigned for health reasons, he was replaced by Joachim Rothenspieler who later left the position in 2020 leaving CEO Markus Duesmann temporarily overlooking the position.
