Last week, Netflix elevated Emily Feingold from Director of Communications to VP of Communications, according to an exclusive .
Feingold will fall directly beneath Chief Communications Officer Rachel Whetstone in the company’s org chart and take on the top spokesperson role that was vacated by Richard Siklos in September 2021.
In a statement provided to Variety, Whetstone said, “I am thrilled that Emily has been appointed as Netflix’s new VP of communications.” She also called Feingold a “creative” and “strategic” executive with broad experience in the entertainment industry.
Feingold has been with Netflix since October 2017 and joined the streaming titan after a three-year stint as the SVP of Corporate Strategy and Communications at Andell Inc., a L.A.-based private investment firm. She also served as the VP of Communications at Ralph Lauren and held communications roles at the Doha Film Institute, The Weinstein Company and Miramax Films.
Feingold steps up to her new role as Netflix faces increased investor and media scrutiny over slowing subscriber growth amid an increasingly competitive video streaming market. The company has also had to contend with the downward pressure that soaring inflation has placed on consumers’ discretionary spending.
In the streamer’s , released today, the company reported that it had lost 200,000 subscribers, the first time it has reported a subscriber loss in more than a decade. At the beginning of the quarter, Netflix forecasted that it would to add new users.
