Capri Holdings, a global luxury fashion group that includes brands like Versace, Jimmy Choo, and Michael Kors, has named Alejandro Martinez-Galindo as its new Chief Information Officer. He will take on the new role at the fashion house on March 8, and report to COO and CFO Thomas Edwards.
This won’t be Martinez-Galindo’s first foray as a CIO, as he held the same role at Walgreens Boots Alliance. While at the retail and pharmacy chain, he led a comprehensive transformation of the company’s retail digital platform. Earlier in his career, Martinez-Galindo held CIO roles at General Motors, including the automaker’s CIO of Europe.
"Alejandro brings significant experience leading global retail digital transformations, large-scale enterprise systems implementations and data analytics innovation, Edwards said in the company’s . “His strong track record over a broad range of industries and focus on driving business results will help accelerate Capri Holdings continued digital and ecommerce evolution.”
Martinez-Galindo’s expertise with digital transformations will be central to Capri’s crucial push further into e-commerce. In Q3 2020 (ended December 26), the fashion group saw its total revenue from almost $1.6 billion largely due to store closures spurred by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Martinez-Galindo said, “I am incredibly excited to join Capri Holdings and look forward to helping implement the next generation of digital innovation at the Company. Building on the dramatic increase in consumer engagement Capri’s luxury brands are currently experiencing, I believe there is a unique opportunity to accelerate this trend leveraging the convergence of technology and customer experience across all touch points. I am honored to have the opportunity to be a part of Capri’s journey in this mission.”
