Imperfect Foods Finds a New CEO to Rebound From a Rough 2021

Imperfect Foods, the online grocer that eliminates food waste by delivering fruits and vegetables that are rejected by other grocers for purely aesthetic reasons, has picked Dan Park as its CEO.

Imperfect Foods, the online grocer that eliminates food waste by delivering fruits and vegetables that are rejected by other grocers for purely aesthetic reasons, has picked Dan Park as its new CEO.

Park replaces Philip Behn, who was in September 2021 alongside half of the company’s C-suite after waves of layoffs.

In the company’s , Board Chair Adam Berger described the perfect Imperfect CEO, stating in a press release that any candidate would need “world-class e-commerce skills, deep operations experience and a commitment to the brand's mission."

Park ticks many of Berger’s boxes and comes to the 7-year-old company from BuildDirect, where he served as the online building materials e-commerce marketplace’s CEO and took the company public. He also brings relevant retail and e-commerce experience as an executive at Amazon and Target.

In a statement of his own, Park said that moving forward the certified B Corp will continuously improve its customer experience while simultaneously implementing new measures to become a net-zero organization by 2030.

To go green and fight back against rising logistics costs, the subscription service has begun to request that customers return packaging, even working with Dispatch Goods to plastic containers, freezer packs and packaging. It is also beginning to more efficient delivery routes to cut fuel consumption.

Park added, "There are certain aspects of the future that I'm concerned about, and as a part of the Imperfect Foods team, I look forward to playing an active role in improving our environment by being a good steward of our planet."
