Hinge has made the move to promote Michelle Parsons to Chief Product Officer, allowing its current CPO, Tim MacGougan, to take on the newly-created Chief Design Officer role.
Parsons, who initially joined the Match Group-owned dating app in January 2021, will focus on enhancing the user experience and developing internal systems to help scale product development.
"As someone who found love on Hinge, I know the profound impact of what we do every day. I'm passionate about continuing to innovate across the platform to create the most impactful and supportive experience for our users," Parsons . "I'm excited for the product updates and innovations we'll be sharing in the coming months."
She will lead the product team as it prioritizes four primary product areas: self-expression, interaction, inclusion and user discovery. According to the company’s , future in-app features will empower users to share a 3D version of themselves and include rich media within their profiles and conversations.
Before joining Hinge, Parsons was the Product Innovation Lead for Global Kids & Family at Netflix. Prior to that, she led strategy for machine learning/data engineering teams working on Spotify's Personalization and Recommendations Platform.
"Given Michelle's previous work in personalizing products at Netflix and Spotify, she is the perfect person to help make Hinge a more individualized and inclusive app for all daters," Hinge CEO Justin McLeod stated. "We're thrilled to elevate her to this new role."
Parson’s new role frees up MacGougan to step into Hinge’s Chief Design Officer post. In this new position, he will focus on ensuring that the app has the most effective design.
