eBay, hot off a fiscal year, is looking to improve its share of the U.S. e-commerce market and chase down market leader Amazon. Last year Amazon accounted for approximately 41% of U.S. e-commerce retail sales, a staggering lead over eBay, which sat in third with just 4.2%, .

"I am proud to join an eBay team that puts an outstanding customer experience at the center of everything they do," Garcia said. "As eBay's tech-led reimagination comes to life, I am excited to continue to build upon the successful strategy the team has been implementing and unlock new opportunities to deliver for our customers and communities."
