Mental health unicorn BetterUp has named Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, as its new Chief Impact Officer.
In this role, the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II, āwill expand on the work heās been doing for years, as he educates and inspires our community and champions the importance of focusing on preventative mental fitness and human potential worldwide,ā according to a authored by CEO Alexi Robichaux and Harry.
He will mainly focus on four key areas: Driving advocacy and awareness for mental fitness, guiding BetterUpās social mission and impact to bring the science of peak performance and human potential into the hands of people worldwide, and influencing the vision of BetterUpās platform, community, and member experience.
āAs BetterUpās first Chief Impact Officer, my goal is to lift up critical dialogues around mental health, build supportive and compassionate communities, and foster an environment for honest and vulnerable conversations,ā Harry stated. āAnd my hope is to help people develop their inner strength, resilience, and confidence.ā
Harry is no stranger to the service and has personally worked with his own BetterUp coach as he is always striving to better his own mental resilience, a philosophy he picked up during his decade of military service. He also has provided access to BetterUp to the entire team at Archewell, a public organization he co-founded to help drive systemic change through non-profit work and creative activations.
The move comes about a month after Harry and his wife, American actress Meghan Markel, said they would not return as working members of the royal family. Since the split, Harry and Meghan have spoken publicly about their struggles with mental health, including a well-watched TV interview with Oprah Winfrey.
