Amazon Names Prime Executive to Lead Healthcare Efforts

Amazon has selected Neil Lindsay, its former Amazon Prime head to lead its new unified health efforts.

, the move places the 11-year company veteran in charge of Amazon’s virtual care, pharmacy and diagnostics businesses.

Lindsay first joined Amazon in 2010 as the VP of Worldwide Marketing for Devices and eventually climbed his way up the corporate ladder to SVP of Prime and Marketing for its worldwide consumer unit. Before his career at Amazon, Lindsay was the Chief Marketing Officer for Sprint’s prepaid brands.

The move showcases Amazon’s continued effort to break into the healthcare industry through telehealth, health monitoring, and pharmacy services.

Amazon has intensified its push into healthcare in the last three years with its acquisition of online pharmacy and medication delivery service Pill Pack. More recently, the company its Amazon Care telehealth service to include all US employees and opened it up to other companies. The company also added new health care functionality to its Alexa voice assistant and Halo, a new fitness tracker.
